Prime Day isn’t just a great time for Amazon deals. Plenty of other retailers are offering sales of their own, too.

Applying our stringent pricing and research standards, the Wirecutter Deals team has sifted through Best Buy’s Black Friday in July sale offerings to uncover only the best discounts on tried-and-tested products. We expect the Best Buy sale to last through end of day July 12, though some deals may linger.

What we like: Our runner-up pick for best external optical drive. Cheapest good DVD drive you can buy. Quieter and less expensive than similar options. DVD-only; Blu-ray not supported.

Other things to know: Slow when ripping discs. Only includes Mini-USB–to–Type-A cable; requires adapter or separate cable for USB-C connections.

What we like: Our budget electric scooter pick. Less expensive, but still capable. Around 10-mile range per charge. Lighter than our other picks. Design allows for bike lock usage.

Other things to know: Weighs 33 pounds with a 265-pound weight limit. Actual range falls far short of Segway's claimed 18-mile range. 15 mph top speed. Matches low.

What we like: Our also great pick for cordless outdoor security camera. Long battery life, great imaging, and three footage storage options. Is able to record 2K video to the base station. Easily differentiates between humans and other moving things.

Other things to know: Includes two cameras and a base station. Compatible with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit, and Google Assistant. Doesn't identify action as well as our two top picks. Prime membership required.

KitchenAid Shave Ice Attachment — Staff FavoriteBest Buy deal price: $75; street price: $85

What we like: An upcoming pick. Makes shaved ice in less than 30 seconds. Use any frozen liquid--juice, cold brew, etc. Great for a fun and quick treat.

Other things to know: First time deal. Requires KitchenAid stand mixer. Best price we've seen this year.

GE GNE27JYMFS French-Door Refrigerator — Our PickBest Buy deal price: $1500; street price: $2150

What we like: A refrigerator model we like from our better customer service pick. GE's French-door fridges received the next-best ratings behind our top pick in our reader survey. High overall levels of satisfaction for important qualities like capacity, looks, and reliability.

Other things to know: This first-time deal is worth considering in your search for a new refrigerator. GE's customer service seemed to generate fewer negative sentiments among our survey respondents.

Best Buy often adjusts pricing to match Amazon’s, but they reserve the right to refuse to match pricing during Prime Day. We have seen Best Buy actively match Amazon’s pricing (and vice versa) on multiple Prime Day deals, from TVs to gaming headsets. Check your preferred retailer before you add an item to cart. It’s also worth asking Best Buy’s customer service if they’ll price match—although it is not Best Buy’s policy to do so.
